KUALA LUMPUR – PMB Investment Berhad (PMB Investment) has received the Company of the Year Award for Promoting Education and Investment Literacy at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2020. The award presentation ceremony was attended by Datuk R. Rajendran, Chairman of CSR Malaysia, and Lee Seng Chee, Managing Editor of CSR Malaysia.
PMB Investment was selected for this award in recognition of the implementation of its #ArifLabur Programme, which was organised with the aim of educating the public on investment awareness and financial management.
According to Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Pelaburan MARA, “The #ArifLabur programme has been carried out across the country, particularly in areas near PMB Investment’s regional and state offices, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Sabah, and Sarawak.”
“This programme is free and open to all members of the public, and many have benefited from it. Participants of #ArifLabur are exposed to available investment opportunities while also improving their skills in selecting investments that suit their respective risk levels. In addition, they are given tips on how to identify online investment scams, in an effort to raise awareness about the increasing number of scammers in the country,” he added.
Themed #ElakSengsaraSelepasBersara (Avoid Hardship After Retirement), the programme aims to address the rising number of young individuals facing bankruptcy in Malaysia due to a lack of financial management awareness. Inadequate retirement savings is another key factor that has driven PMB Investment to organise this initiative.
Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah further stated, “The company’s success in receiving this award has motivated us to continue educating the public on investment knowledge and financial management, leveraging on our experience in the unit trust management industry since 1967.”
This statement was issued by PMB Investment, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Pelaburan MARA Berhad Group, and an Islamic Fund Management Company (IFMC). The firm manages 16 unit trust funds with various investment portfolio mandates in equity and sukuk asset classes.
