Mahdzir Othman was appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Pelaburan MARA Berhad on 1st August 2022.
With over 27 years of experience in capital market development and fund management, Mahdzir has held key leadership positions in strategy, policy development, investment and market development for companies such as Bursa Malaysia, CGS-CIMB Securities, i-VCAP Management Sdn. Bhd. and Valuecap Sdn. Bhd.
During his previous stint with the Stock Exchange, he was involved in the enhancements of policy framework, market development initiatives as well as marketing and promotions as part of the efforts to increase trading activities and market velocity. Earlier in his career, Mahdzir had wide experience in the fund management industry where he headed a licensed Islamic fund management company and also held the positions of Chief Investment Officer / Portfolio Manager at several other investment outfits.
Graduated from the Northern Illinois University, USA, Mahdzir holds a BSc Finance (Honours) and previously carried Fund Manager’s Representative license issued by the Securities Commission. He is also alumnus of Universiti Teknologi MARA and an old boy of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar.
